International Water Conference 2022 – Day 3

Day 3 of the IWC with Expert sessions conducted by the World Bank, CAS, and Korea Exim Bank followed by R&D Symposiums and business forums on 16th December 2022. Secretary to the Hon. Prime Minister, Mr. Anura Dissanayake conducted a session regarding “Potentials & strategies towards ensuring water secure Sri Lanka” followed by a session of the Secretary of the Ministry of Environment, Dr. Anil Jasinghe. The whole event culminated in a closing ceremony with a vote of thanks speech by the General Manager of National Water Supply and Drainage Board, Mr. Thilina S Wijetunga.

International Water Conference 2022 – Day 2

Day 2 of the IWC with Expert sessions conducted by the ADB, Jaica and EU followed by R&D Symposiums majoring in Water management on 15th December 2022. The Chinese Academy of Science conducted a remote lecture with 15 presentations done via digital technology as lecturers could not attend the conference on account of the Covid-19 restrictions.

International Water Conference 2022 – Inauguration Ceremony

The National Water Supply and Drainage Board of Sri Lanka inaugurated the center of excellence for water and sanitation (Cewas) at the opening ceremony of the International Water Conference 2022 on 14th December 2022.
Present to commemorate this historic event was the minister of health and water supply Hon. Dr. Keheliya Rambukwella and state minister of the water ministry Hon. Sanath Nishantha in the presence of members of the diplomatic corps and the respective funding agencies.

The National Water Supply & Drainage Board has planned to organize the International Water Conference – Sri Lanka 2022 from 14th to 16th December 2022 in Ratmalana, Colombo.

This International Conference will bring together water professionals, foreign delegates, International Organizations, government officials and media, etc. and provide insights into the research, latest trends in best practice and cutting-edge technologies which will gain immense interest with water professionals, young, adept  researchers,  and  university  academia  for  knowledge  sharing & networking.

The Main Conference comprises Inauguration Ceremony, R&D Symposium with Technical Sessions followed by field visits. The Inauguration of the Centre of Excellence for Water and Sanitation (CEWAS) located in Rathmalana, Colombo as well as the Opening Ceremony of the International Water Conference, Sri Lanka will be held on 14th December and the Research & Development Symposium, Expert Sessions plus the Business Forum will take place from 15-16 December followed by field visits to Kandy and Colombo on the final day, 17th December.

The Research & Development Symposium under the main theme “Water for Sustainable Development: Corporation, Partnership, and Appropriate Technology” will explore water & sanitation related topics through a series of Technical Papers presented by the NWSDB officials, as well as local & international water sector utilities and researchers. In addition, the collaborating partners like World Bank, ADB, AFD, JICA and CAS have offered to lead Expert Sessions on Integrated Water Resource Management, Utility Management, Disaster Management and Partnerships for Cost Recovery.

The Business Forum sessions will allow space and create insightful discussions on sustainable solutions for climatic change in the global warming context, digital water, sustainable agriculture, and water management.

The International Water Conference, Sri Lanka- 2022 will be a great opportunity for water experts and the renowned academia together with key industry players, investors, and policymakers from around the world to explore opportunities and collaborate on the diverse and dynamic water sector.
