Marching front with the legacy of rich knowledge in Water Sector
Since its establishment in 1975, NWSDB has evolved itself in the water and wastewater sector and molded itself as a pioneer water utility organization in South Asia. Through its 45yrs of exemplary journey, NWSDB poses rich and unique knowledge in the water sector not only in South Asia but also globally. Planning & Designs Section, which is the heart of the NWSDB, with the dedication of the seasoned water professionals covering different fields of water sector; Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Process Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Droughting, Surveying etc., sphere heading a tremendous task; in-house design of vast number of Water Supply Projects proposed under “Water for All” program, to ensuring clean drinking water supply for every household across the country before 2025 in line with the National Policy Framework and the vision of His Excellency the President of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka.
Currently, Planning & Designs Section leads the design of 93 proposed Water Supply Projects, which would contribute 1,269,250 m3/day volume of treated water to the existing pipe network, adding 1,569,005 new connections and 24,750 km of new pipe network to the system. Planning & Designs Section has completed the pre-feasibility study, feasibility study, surveying, design (process, structural, geotechnical, electrical, mechanical, electronic etc), quantity surveying, costing, documentation, and most of the projects are in the procurement stage. The in-depth knowledge developed by the Planning & Designs Section in water sector adds value to the service of the NWSDB.
